This faithfully made reproduction of the classic .36 caliber Colt Cartridge Works bullet captures a projectile design that played an important role in the evolution of Colt revolvers during the Civil War era. The pattern dates to approximately 1862, when Colt first developed it for use in their .36 pocket revolvers. It was soon adopted for the factory-produced combustible paper cartridges that Colt supplied both to the commercial market and to the United States Army, becoming one of the standard projectiles for .36 caliber revolvers of the period.
Cast in 99.9% pure, soft, new lead just like the originals, this bullet follows the historic dimensions and form. It measures approximately .380 inches at its widest point and weighs about 126 grains. The distinctive long, tapered heel is intentionally smaller than the chamber diameter, allowing the bullet to be started easily and seated smoothly in cap-and-ball revolvers. That extended heel also provides the ideal surface for attaching a paper cartridge wrapper, making this design especially well suited for authentic combustible cartridge construction.
Hand-cast using precision molds and carefully inspected for quality, these bullets are produced with crisp detail and consistent weight. They are supplied unlubricated so that you may apply the lubricant and loading method that best fits your needs.
